Jim will be dearly remembered for his kindness and for always saying I love you to everyone. He attended Mt. Hebron UMC for as long as his health permitted. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Moose Lodge No.692.
Jim retired from the Greene County Highway Department at the age of 85 after 29 years of employment. He previously worked for Bob Smith Construction for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Steele, parents James Harrison and Golden Steele, siblings Andrew Beecher Steele, Bill Steele, Bob Steele, Loriana Brown, and Deema Reel.
He is survived by, two daughters and son in laws Judy and Gerhard Werner and Sandi and Eddie Bible.
Grandchildren Holly (Josh) Marshall, Jacob (Kayla) Bible, Michala Fox and Emily Caldwell, great-grandchildren Shelby Marshall, Grady and Garett Caldwell, and several nieces and nephews.
Two sister in-laws Rosa Steele and Leo Steele, Brother in laws Billy Johnson and Henard Myers.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Brown, Anthony Morelock, Michael Morelock, Sam Mashburn, Jordan Steele, Joe Gosnell.
Honorary pallbearers are caregiver, Mikey Tarlton, past and present employees of Greene County Highway Department, and employees of Brookdale Senior Living.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00pm Sunday, March 26th, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00pm following visitation in the chapel at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Dixie Kelley and Reverend Dewayne Steele. Military graveside service will follow at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.
