Mrs. Donaldson was born in Etowah, Tennessee, where she lived until 1944 at which time she moved to Cleveland, Tennessee where she and her late husband, Joseph F. Donaldson, were co-owners and operators of Donaldson Printing Co. After his death she moved to Greeneville where she has lived for the past several years.
She was a member and Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland and an affiliate member of First Presbyterian Church of Greeneville.
She was a Past President of Bradley County Home Demonstration Club and an Assistant Cashier at Merchants Bank in Cleveland. She served on the Board of Cleveland Community Concerts and was a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Rev. Dr. Dan and Pat Donaldson of Greeneville and Dr. Joe and Meredith Donaldson of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren: Heather Donaldson and Rachel Donaldson of Greeneville, Susanna Donaldson and Ann Morris of Iowa City, Iowa, Andrew Donaldson of Beverly, Massachusetts, and Marylee Donaldson of Columbia, Missouri; brother: A.T. Grayson of Athens, Tennessee; sister-in-law: Pat Grayson of Lenoir City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Swannie McGhee Grayson and was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by four sisters: Kathryn Harrod, Jean Snyder, Mildred Lay, and Geraldine Erwin; and three brothers: Calvin Grayson, Robert Grayson, and Joe Grayson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 14 at First Presbyterian Church, Greeneville with Rev. James Mays officiating. There will be a gathering of friends and family in the Simon Room of First Presbyterian Church following the funeral service.
Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Tennessee, with Dr. Joseph Tanner officiating. It is requested that friends, who would like to join the family for the committal service, meet at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland. Following the committal, there will be a gathering of friends and family in the narthex of First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland.
There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience between the hours of 8am – 5pm Thursday and 8am – 2pm Friday. Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville is in charge of arrangements.
Her pallbearers will be Heather Donaldson, Rachel Donaldson, Susanna Donaldson, Ann Morris, Andrew Donaldson, and Marylee Donaldson.
The staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Greeneville will serve as honorary pallbearers.
