He was retired from Magnavox after 45 years of service.
Donnie spent his life playing the guitar and singing in churches all around East Tennessee. Everywhere he went he greeted everyone with a smile. He had many, many friends and was loved by all who knew him.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Shipley Ricker; his daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jay Lynn Stills, Phyllis Ricker and Rebecca and Buford Metcalf; also one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Karen Ricker; grandchildren, Jason and Danyelle Stills, Hayley Stills, Stacie and Ben Gosnell, Ethan and Brittany Metcalf, Chenoa Ricker, Dyani Moore and Jacy Ricker. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren; his brother and sisters-in-law, Leon and Joann Ricker and Pansy Ricker; special friends and caregivers, Ronnie Gosnell, Tammy Lynn Huffstutler, Patsy Stanton, Robin Engala and Shannon Hefner.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers; 1 sister, 2 grandsons, Matthew Ricker and Joshua Ricker; one great granddaughter, Abigail Grace Ricker.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Roger Ealy and Rev. Hubert Metcalf.
Interment will be on Friday at 11 am in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens with Rev. David Anderson officiating the committal. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jason Stills, Ethan Metcalf, Ben Gosnell, Danny Ricker, William Ricker and Buford Metcalf.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Charles Montgomery, Dana and Rachel; Dr. Anil Tumkur and Kim; as well as Dr. John C. Boys, Pam and Julia.
