He retired from Nabisco and was a member of First Christian Church.
Mr. Dyer was a World War II veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW.
He was a very avid golfer and a longtime member of the East Tennessee Senior Golf Association and a charter member of the Nolichuckey Golf Course.
Survivors include a beloved nephew: Steve Shields; a beloved niece: Delores Green; numerous other nieces and nephews;
special friend and caregiver: Linda Cutshaw; special friends: Ron and Patty Berquist, Harold and Janice Waddle, Rex Snelson, Greg Sayler, Jack Kilday, Marshall Brown, Glenn Heines, Eual Shelton, Bob Gay, and his friends at First Christian Church.
He was the son of the late Lee Elbert and Minnie L. Dyer and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Dyer; sisters: Pauline Barry, Ruby Smith, Beulah Damewood and Bessie Hurley; and brothers: Clarence, Clifford, Earnest and Lorn Dyer.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 7pm Friday, August 2, 2013, in the Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Jeff McNabb and Rev. Gene Wood will officiate.
Interment will be 11am Saturday, at Lynnhurst/Greenwood Chapel, Knoxville. Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:45am at the cemetery for the committal service.
