She was a Baptist by faith.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by six children and spouses: Vickie and Warren Browder of Jonesborough, Penny Nelson of Johnson City, John and Tanya Nelson of Metairie, Louisiana, Jeff and Angela Taylor of Roanoke, Virginia, Joyce L. and Gary W. Kirk and Ronnie Nelson of Greeneville; seven grandchildren: Billy Harris and Crystal, Joshua Britton, Brandi Nelson, Garrett Kirk, Brooke Nelson, Tyler Buccannan, and Xavier Fletcher; two great grandchildren: Hunter and Hanna Harris; three sisters: Wanda Peterson, Joyce Houston, and Darlene Houston; brother: Wayne Houston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was a daughter of the late Douglas and Evelyn Morgan Houston and was preceded in death by four siblings: Ronnie Houston, Doyle Houston, and two infants; and two husbands: Bill Nelson and Rex Franklin “Junior” Taylor Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home, preceding the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Lynn Mercer and Rev. Ray Shelton will officiate.
Interment will follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday at River Hill Cemetery. In her honor, the family will meet at the cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Friday for the committal service.
The staffs at Signature Healthcare and Laughlin Hospital, along with Dr. Stephen Prince will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff, her roommate Margaret Crowe, and the other residents at Signature Healthcare for their kindness, care, love, and prayers they gave to our mother.
