Doug was born in Loudon December 13, 1953 to Paul A. and Frances L. (Oody) Brooks. Doug grew up in Greeneville and graduated from South Greene High School in 1971. He proudly served over 20 years in the U. S. Air Force serving at Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan; Offutt AFB Omaha, Nebraska; RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom; Wright-Patterson AFB Dayton, Ohio and Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. He made many, MANY friends and “family members” wherever he was. His last assignment was as First Sgt of the 315th Technical Training squadron, Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas, where he retired in 1994. In 1997, he and his wife moved back to home to Greeneville.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and mother; son, Mike Wallace; sister, Brenda Myers; brothers-in-law, Marty Myers, Randy Waddell, and Rick Felton; and nephew Travis Holt.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jenny Brooks; daughter, Penny Grubb (Michael); son, Andrew Brooks; five grandsons, Shane and Jacob Grubb; Aiden Jacen and Arick Brooks; and one great-grandson, Sage Grubb. Two sisters, Paula Waddell and Donna Felton (Larry Gilland), and a brother, David Brooks (Joyce Honeycutt); and many more beloved nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at 2 pm in the chapel of Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Chaffin officiating.
Interment will follow with full military rites in the Honor Garden of GreeneLawn Memory Gardens on the Asheville Highway.
Pallbearers are Dave Brooks, Drew Thomas, Aaron Daniel, Tony Oody, Josh Laws and Brooks Roberts.
