Billy Glen “Bill” Samples, 61, of Greeneville, entered into his eternal rest on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center following many years of suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Bill was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and love of music.
Bill retired from Ricker Electric and was previously employed at FrontierVision Cable. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he played the guitar as long as his health permitted. He graduated from Cocke County High School and obtained an electrical engineering degree from Georgia Tech.
Survivors include his loving wife, Melanie Samples; his brothers: Darrell (Judy) Derrick and Kirby Derrick of Cocke County; his mother-in-law: June Fellers; his special friend and caregiver, Anthony Fox; friends: Mike Harris and Foye Smith; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his fur baby, Buis.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Glen Samples, and Evalena and Tom Derrick; and his father-in-law, James Fellers.
The family will receive friends 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with Rev. Paul Garritt officiating.
