He was a security guard Captain for Murray Guards and retired from Greene Valley after 37 years of service.
Wayne was a member of Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Assistant Sunday School Teacher, Clerk of the Session for many years, and assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
He was a lifetime member of Greeneville Rescue Squad, where he was Squadman of the year in 1983 and Paramedic of the Year in 1987. He received the 20 year service award with the Rescue Squad in 1997-1998. He loved serving the people of Greeneville and Greene County through the Rescue Squad and Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department as long as his health permitted.
He was also a Major in the Civil Air Patrol. He had a love for flying, which was one of his most favorite hobbies. He was a former part time pilot for American Aviation.
Wayne is survived by his wife: Ruth Taylor; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Rick and Pat Taylor, Michael Taylor, and Jeremiah and April Taylor of Greeneville; daughter: Susan Taylor Henley of Greeneville; grandchildren: Shaun Henley, Brittany Driggers, Brandy Henley, Logan Taylor, Marley Taylor, and Jakob Taylor, all of Greeneville; great grandchild: Hayden Henley of Greeneville; brother and sister-in-law: Allan and Wilma Taylor of Greeneville; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Janice and Johnny Coleman of Greeneville and Katherine Cain of Oak Ridge, Tennessee ; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Charles Gibson of Church Hill, Tennessee, Juanita Gibson of Kingsport, and Rosie Brobeck of Blountville.
He was a son of the late Walter and Eda Southerland Taylor and was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home preceding the funeral service at 8 p.m. in Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel. Rev. Ronnie Duncan and Rev. Jim Carter will officiate.
Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the committal service. The Greeneville-Greene County Rescue Squad will conduct a memorial service at the graveside.
The pallbearers are Danny Yokley, Ronnie Yokley, Rodney Taylor, Jason Taylor, David Cain, Jerry Ripley, and Reece Baughard.
Members of the Greeneville-Greene County Rescue Squad, Walter Stone, and Bob Sykes will serve as honorary pallbearers.
