Rowland Laverne Sims

Rowland Laverne Sims, 72, of Greencastle passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at Mill Pond Health Campus. Rowland was born in Greencastle on March 24, 1946, the son of Paul W. Sims and Nannie E. (Furney) Sims-Lancaster, and was a 1964 graduate of Greencastle High School. Mr. Sims proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Supervisor for Conrail for 28 years. He was a member of the NRA, the VFW Post #1550, and the Moose Lodge #1592. Rowland was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. Survivors include 3 children, Paul Sims, (wife-Julie), Gosport, Michelle Montero, Greencastle, and Ashley Sims, Arizona; two brothers, Hubert Sims, (wife-Mildred), Willison, Florida, and Daniel Sims, (wife-Elaine), Greencastle; two sisters, Lola Norris (husband-Don), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Marcia King, Greencastle; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Frank Lancaster; and a brother- in-Law, Oscar King Sr. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at Meijer’s 5th East, 5 East Franklin Street, Greencastle, Indiana 46135.
