Robert L. Black, 89, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020.
He was born on December 30, 1930 to Frank and Matilda (Stoops) Black in Coalmont, Indiana.
Bob married his best friend for life Betty (Shidler) Black on January 7, 1950. They enjoyed 67 years together.
Bob worked at IBM in Greencastle until the plant closed in 1987. He drove a school bus for Greencastle Community Schools and later worked for Greencastle Decorating and Black Lumber Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greencastle.
He is survived by his two sons, Thomas L. Black (Brenda) of Kissimmee, FL and Terry J. Black (Dede) of Greencastle. Two grandchildren, Ben Thomas (Roberta) of Oak Creek, Wisconsin and Julie Black of Greencastle. Two great grandchildren, Brandon and Molly Thomas. Brother-in-laws, Larry Trueblood (Kathy) of Leesburg, FL and John Brown of Greenville, SC. Sister-in-laws, Martha Black of Valparaiso, IN and Bernita Black of Morris, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty, and brothers, Richard Black, Forrest Black and Larry Black.
A Private family service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery with Pastor Tom Blodgett officiating services.
