Ellen Jane Long

Ellen Jane “Janie” Long, 96 of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Born September 6, 1925 in Fillmore, IN, the daughter of Frank and Lela Isabell “Izzy” (Sinclair) Hunter. She was a graduate of Fillmore High School “Class of 1943”. Janie worked at First Citizens Bank for several years. She was a former member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was a member of Gobin United Methodist Church. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi, Eastern Star, History Club, Mother’s Club ( Modern Mother’s Study Club), and volunteered with the Putnam County Hospital Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband John Richard Long. Janie is survived by her children Janet Long Correll, Jerry F. (Lisa) Long, and Julie A. (Steve) Vanderbosch; grandchildren Josh (Krissy), Ben (Thuy), Maggie, Cody (Connor), Lindsey (Daniel), Katie, & Hannah; step grandchildren, Michael (Lori) & Gabrielle (Hayley); great grandchildren, Jaxon, Hallie, Ellis, & Everett; and her favorite son and daughter Maurice & Carolyn Butler. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Fillmore Cemetery. Burial will follow. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
