Doris Jane Miller

Doris Jane Miller, 85, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Born December 14, 1938 in Danville, IL, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Kelly) Mahoney and was a graduate of Greencastle High School. Doris continued her education receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University and her Master’s Degree from DePauw University in Education. Doris was a dedicated elementary school teacher for over 20 years in the Greencastle School Corporation. She retired from this rewarding profession in 1998. She had also served on the Forest Hill Cemetery Board for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William Miller; and brothers William & James Mahoney. Doris is survived by her son Frederick (Melinda) Miller; daughter Catherine (Joseph) Hickman; a sister Marjorie (Ronald) Miller; grandchildren Phillip (Kim) Miller, William (Ellese) Miller, Caroline (Robert) Morey and Andrew Hickman; and great grandchildren Thomas & Robert Miller. Private family graveside services will be held at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
