Reva was a dedicated wife and partner to her husband, Dick, for whom she filled many roles – friend, advisor, sounding board, and mentor. Her devotion to their 77-year marriage remains the foundation from which deep comfort and strength are drawn by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It is the bedrock of her family.
Her children were raised by an extraordinarily strong woman who struck the balance between supporting and letting go perfectly. She served as a treasured role model while teaching her children and grandchildren that relationships are about GIVING 100% - there is no “take.” For those of you in the community who shared a genuine interaction, you have experienced how deeply she cared about people with grace, honesty, and sincerity. She was quick to deflect attention, always turning it into concern for others – in so much that she would be deeply embarrassed by this obituary.
She and Dick met while students at Salem College, and they enjoyed living in several different parts of the country as well as a 3-year stint in Africa. They moved to Greeley in 1972, making it their permanent home as many of her children and grandchildren stayed in the area. She and her husband Dick travelled extensively, with special memories of New Zealand, Ireland, and a photo safari in Africa, and her passion for learning about other cultures never diminished.
While her love of family always came first, Reva was an accomplished woman in her own right. She graduated from Salem College in music education and her lifelong influence on others was launched through instilling the joy of music in her students and continued through her impact on her caregivers in the last days of her life. Her commitment to philanthropy prevailed throughout her life, with special fondness for the two organizations cited below.
Reva is survived by her daughter, Josette Bond, sons, Dave (Karen) Bond, Phil Bond and Mike (Judy) Bond, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, and a sister Marilee Chaffee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 77 years, Dick, four brothers, and one sister.
There will be a private family memorial service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Reva’s name may be made to A Woman’s Place and Sunrise Community Health – The Bond Clinic.
