Margarita M. Torres

Margarita M. Torres of La Salle died Thursday, November 18, 2010 in Hospice care at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born on June 18, 1917 in La Cuesta, New Mexico to Juan Lucero and Josefa Flores Lucero. At the age of 4, she moved to Colorado to be raised by her Uncle Frank and Aunt Maria Aragon.

Margarita married Jose A. Torres on February 13, 1939 in Villanueva, New Mexico. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Margarita was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was very instrumental in raising all of her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family, her tortillas and bread being just some of the specialties that were enjoyed by all. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed her seasonal flower gardens.

She is survived by her daughters Dorothy Armendariz and her husband Angel, Patsy Springsteel and her husband William and Alice Torres all of La Salle; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose A. Torres, a daughter Margie Gonzales, a son Roy Torres and a great-granddaughter Megan Martinez.

Visitation 4-7 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church followed at 10 a.m. by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
