Lorinda Lee Longan, age 62, passed away April 10, 2020 in Greeley, Colorado. Lori’s greatest legacy was her role as a wife, mother to 5 children, grandmother to 18 grandchildren. Lori could always be found playing with her beloved grandchildren, sitting behind a sewing machine, spending time with her family at reunions, other gatherings, vacations, and holidays. Despite significant health challenges in recent years Lori always showed compassion, selflessness, gratitude, and Faith in Jesus Christ. Throughout her life, Lori had many hobbies that included sewing, family history, food storage/canning, swimming, and attending her children and grandchildren sporting events.
Lori’s chosen calling in life was a registered nurse at North Colorado Medical Center and later as a traveling nurse, visiting several states. Her favorite assignments were working with newborn babies. Lori had unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and served in many roles as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was involved with Boy Scouts of America, Relief Society and family history work. Lori also served in the community, which included the School Board in Wiggins Colorado.
Lori was born February 23, 1958 in Glendale, California to Walter and Henrietta Schnakenburg. She graduated 1976 from West Covina High where she played the Trumpet in the marching band. Later Lori and her family moved to Littleton Colorado where she attended Arapahoe Community College where she studied nursing. While living in the Denver area she met her soul mate Paul Longan and they were married in March 1981. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in 1995 at the Denver Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Lori is survived by her husband Paul Longan, Sons, Jeffrey (Charrity) and Joseph (Amber); Daughters, Jennifer Lopez (Christopher), Crystal Hendrix (Travis), and Catherine Brush (Taylor), Father Walter Schnakenburg; brothers Richard (Sandy), Douglas (Julie), and Brian (Kari); sisters Linda Campillo, Cindy Landeen (Carl), Sandie Porter (Edson), and Diana Pickett (Jason). Lori was preceded in death by her beloved mother Henrietta Schnakenburg.
Lori was buried at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Centennial Colorado April 23, 2020. A public Celebration of Life service will be held when social gatherings no longer present a health hazard.
