Josephine obtained her Nursing License from NJC and her Bachelor’s Degree from UNC. She was married to Manuel Herrera for 33 years. Josephine began her career working as a Nurse’s Aide then going on to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at Logan County Hospital for a total of 9 years. After nursing, Josephine worked for the Weld County Probation office for 16 years. After the Probation Department, Josie went on to work with her sister Maria Garcia with her Private Investigations Business for a few years. Josie then became employed with attorney David Morgan law office for 17 yrs., before retiring.
Josephine loved to read, mostly crime and ‘who did it?’ novels. She loved plants, her green thumb was envied. She loved spending time with her grandkids and family as well as her dogs. In her free time, Josephine volunteered with CASA- Advocacy for the safety and wellbeing of children. She also volunteered with Sunrise Community Health Center- Board of Directors.
Josephine is survived in life by her husband, Manuel Herrera of Greeley; daughters, Theresa (Jeff) Lopez of Eaton, Enomi Klaffenbock of Longmont; sisters, Shirley Sandoval Reynolds of Henderson, NV, Maria Garcia of Greeley; brothers, Roy Sandoval of Greely, Juan Sandoval; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Sandoval; son, Jesse A Martinez; sisters, Emily Sandoval, Gloria Sandoval.
A memorial Service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Island Grove Bunkhouse, 607 N. 15th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631.
