John Charles Strasser, 73, of Greeley passed away May 13, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. He was born September 14, 1941 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado to Herman and Marion Strasser. Herman and Marion paid the hospital for John’s birth with crates of eggs. The family farmed and ranched in Oak Creek, Colorado for many years before moving to Kersey in 1947. There, the family had a small Dairy Farm and John grew up and attended Kersey schools.
John married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Lee Lester on October 17, 1959 at the Kersey Community Church.
John worked for Conrad Herbst as a Ranch hand and then for Riverside Truck & Auto as a Mechanic and facilitated their Tow Service for many years. Then John worked for Meadow Gold as a maintenance foreman, where he retired. John also partnered with Jack Allmer in the business venture of A & S Salvage, and worked in conjunction with various contractors doing the setting of modular homes, concrete work, and excavation work.
John enjoyed every motor related activity there was; motorcycles, snow mobiles, jeeping and had a special interests in car restoration. He also enjoyed wood working and metal fabrication.
John enjoyed going to the mountains, hunting, and time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Good Times Car Club, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, LaBamba Classics, and The Colorado Jeep Club.
His favorite pastime was cruising with his wife and friends in their ’47 Chevy.
John had many friends, too many to name. He was childhood friends with Joe Sipres, many the times they spent playing, inventing, and getting into trouble together; Joe was John’s friend to the day he died. In his adult life, John made friends with Orville Hawkins (now deceased) who became the brother he never had. They spent time hunting, jeeping, and building stuff - whatever they were doing, they always had a good time.
John was a good husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. There wasn’t anyone he wasn’t willing to help – especially when it came to cars.
John is survived by sister, Barbara Sober; wife, Sharon Lee Strasser; children, Pam A. Elliott (Ron), Debbie A. Hoschouer, John C. Strasser, Jr. (Lori) and Kim Enriquez (Feliciano); grandchildren, Charles Elliott, Dan Elliott, Becky Roush, Bradley John-Parson, Steven Groves, Lorieanna Caroulos, Ryan Hanson, Josiah Enriquez and Elijah Enriquez and great-grandchildren, Trenton Elliott, Madison Elliott, Wyatt Roush, Dawson Elliott, Hunter Groves and Ayden Caroulos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Bianca Enriquez and aunt, Margaret Hinkle.
