Joann Weinmeister, 83, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022. She was born on September 28, 1939 in Greeley, Colorado to George Kraft and Lydia Schneider Kraft. Joann grew up in Greeley; she graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1958. Joann resided in and around the Greeley area all her life. Joann was a Weld County native, through and through.
One fateful afternoon, Joann met the man she would marry (Raymond Edwin Weinmeister) while visiting with friends at her parent's ice cream shop (Dairy Crème). On February 14th, 1960 Joann and Raymond were married at St Paul’s Congregational Church in Greeley, Colorado. Together they had four children; Karen, Lauren, Mark, and Vivian. Joann and Raymond farmed in the Ft. Collins, Ault, and Greeley areas and Joann was a true farmers wife helping with the farming operations and serving as a true homemaker for the family.
Joann worked a variety of jobs outside the home after all the children were school age. For seven years, Joann worked for the RE-9 school district as a cook. She then went on to work as a nanny for 12 years for families in the community. Joann regularly attended church services at St. Paul’s Congregational Church and Faith United Church in Windsor. She was also a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She was a member of “Potpourri“ Extension Club, 20th Century Women’s Social Club, and Woman’s Fellowship at St. Paul’s and Faith. Joann enjoyed volunteering at church and could be often found in the church kitchen helping prepare meals and making sure every last dish was cleaned and properly put back in its place. Joann loved word search puzzles, attending her grandchildren’s ball games, and reading her Daily Word. Joann loved collecting Angel figurines as well. She was a wonderful woman; her family, friends and community will miss such a bright shining light.
Joann is survived by her daughters; Karen Kay (Mark) Sitzman, Vivian May (Brian) Foss, sons; Lauren Dean (Krista) Weinmeister, Mark Edwin Weinmeister, four grandsons, one granddaughter and 3 great-grandchildren.
Joann is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, her parents; George and Lydia Kraft.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Grace Pointe Memory Care for the love and care shown to Joann.
A funeral service will be held in remembrance of Joann on November 28th, 2022 at St. Paul’s Congregational Church at 12:00 pm with viewing an hour before. The church service will be followed by a graveside service at Linn Grove Cemetery. The family would like to invite all in attendance to a reception at St. Paul’s Congregational Church following the graveside to share memories over sandwiches and coffee.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Congregational Church.
