He was born in Greeley CO on January 11, 1946 to August and Lydia (Alles) Ehrlich. He was the youngest of six children. He grew up on a farm east of Greeley. He attended school in Greeley through his junior year of high school when he left to attend Kemper Military School. The day before his graduation he transferred his credits to Greeley High School and graduated with the Class of 1964. He attended Greeley Commercial College where he met his wife, Ann. He was a graduate of Aims College in Greeley CO.
He entered the United States Army in 1966 and was stationed at Fort Ord CA and Fort Polk LA. He served in Vietnam where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantryman Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with/Bronze Service Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
In August of 1966, Jim married his wife of 56 years, Ann Rhodes, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greeley CO.
Jim was employed at Agland, Inc. in Eaton CO until his retirement.
He enjoyed traveling, baseball, and reading. He volunteered at the Medical Center of the Rockies for a number of years and the Ronald McDonald Houses in Denver and Aurora where he helped decorate for the holidays.
Jim was a member of The American Legion and The Greeley Kennel Club.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann R. Ehrlich, daughter, Erin N. Hunt (Derek) of Timnath CO and granddaughter, Lauren K. Hunt of Colorado Springs CO, brother, Robert Ehrlich (Janice) of Eaton CO, brother-in-law, Thomas Rhodes of Ponca City OK and brother-in-law, Kelly Stone Bissell of Grand Junction CO and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Gloria Cogburn (Wayne) and Mary Ann Bissell, brothers, Harvey Ehrlich (LaVerne) and John Ehrlich (Betty).
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Allnutt Funeral Service - Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, at 11:00 am, a reception following. Memorial contributions may be made to High Plains Honor Flight, PO Box 363, Ault CO 80610.
