Floyd Perry O’Dowd (80) and Sandra “Sandy” Dee O’Dowd (62) of Evans, Colorado were killed in a car accident on September 15, 2024. Floyd and Sandy have been together 40 years, since January 1984. Together they raised their family and contributed to the Northern Colorado community over the last 30 years.
Floyd worked in construction for most of his career until his retirement. Sandy was a tattoo industry pioneer in Northern Colorado early in the 1990s, before tattoos were considered mainstream. Sandy was an amazing artist, and Floyd had a knack for drawing in a crowd. Together they used their talents to build up a loyal following and helped normalize tattooing in the area. They were the first to build up a mobile studio, spreading their unique style and influence across the country. Over the years they moved around a bit, setting up tattoo studios in Grand Junction and Sterling. Each move expanded their network of customers, who became friends.
Although they enjoyed working together, their greatest joy was their family. Sandy and Floyd raised six of their own children and took in many others throughout the years. Once they brought a child into their home, they would consider them their own. At last count, there were 60+ who honored them as Mom and Dad.
In their downtime, Floyd and Sandy loved spending time with their grandbabies, being in the mountains, riding their motorcycle, and watching their daughter compete in Martial Arts.
