Betty Schlagel of Colorado Springs formerly of Greeley, died Saturday, January 15, 2011. She was born January 12, 1918 in Longmont to Peter and Elizabeth (Ochs) Schneider. She lived in Longmont, CO and the Wheatland and Torrington, WY areas.
On November 6, 1937, she married Solomon Schlagel. He died on February 21, 1997.
Betty was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church of Greeley. She enjoyed Sunday school and being a part of the women’s study group, ladies aid group and the quilting group. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and fishing. She was a 4-H leader, and was a member of County Extension Club.
Betty is survived by her daughters Arlene Belt (Bob) of Colorado Springs and Verlyn Ammon (Dave) of Colorado Springs; son Stan Schlagel (Midge) of Neosho, MO; sisters Linda Rincker (Bill) of Liberty, MO and Orion Gardner (Virgil) of Powder Springs, GA; brother Elmer Schneider (Betty Jo) of Cheyenne, WY; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Solomon; daughter Barbara Jean; brothers and sisters Peter, Philipp, John, Henry, Rudolph, Joseph, Esther Freda and Orion.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Congregational Church. Interment Linn Grove Cemetery.
