At the age of 83 she passed away on September 2nd, 2023. She left her sunshine behind to take away the shadow and brighten our lives and world forever.
In her younger and more adventurous years, Joy was a world-champion speed roller skater. She went on to raise three of her children as a single mother while running a full-time daycare and going to college at night. She met and married John Reynolds and moved to Steamboat Springs, where she lived for 14 years and served as a rancher's wife until 1982. After which time, she supported herself and her youngest daughter through Mary Kay and miscellaneous other jobs. After a long journey, she graduated in 1984 with a B.A. degree from the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis in Psychology. She met her husband Ron in 1989 and found the love of her life. Ron and Joy ran a homeless charity for decades, called "Greeley for God" where they ministered and handed out food and clothing at Lincoln Park in Greeley, Colorado. Joy did this while running her own counselling business from home. As a devout Christian, Joy lived her life aiming to help those in need and supporting her family. Even after they retired from service and ministry, they continued to help people in need in their local community and continued to donate to multiple charities and causes. They passionate about their faith and continued to participate in their church community until they were forced to stay home due to covid and diminishing heath. Joy was also on the disaster recovery team for the City of Greeley and part of city council. She was very passionate about politics and was an active and avid Republican. She was the primary caregiver for her husband, Ron, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer's, for over a decade, until her passing. She is now in Heaven accepting her reward for a life well-lived. Her family grieves her passing and the world will miss her greatly.
She is preceded in death by her father William Albion Carlson II, her mother Lois Carlson, brother Bill Carlson, sister Sonjenne McGechie, and daughter Debbie Webb. She is survived by her current husband Ronald Breuer, sister Jenn Tonso, three children Derral Reynolds, David Reynolds and JoAnne Goad, along with 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are her sons Derral Reynolds, David Reynolds, Ernest Goad, and her grandsons Shane Reynolds, James Reynolds, Jared Reynolds and Joel Reynolds.
A viewing for Alois will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 3rd St, Eaton, CO 80615. A celebration of life will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 1325 3rd St, Eaton, CO 80615. A burial will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
