I wanted to take a moment to write to you and your family.

First, thank you for asking me to create the slideshow for your dad’s service. It’s an honor to contribute to his memory.

I lost my Grandpa Martinez (Perfecto) in 2019. He and your dad were great friends, so I often saw your dad growing up. My grandpa loved to share funny stories, and your dad always seemed to be at the center of his favorite ones. They shared a bond filled with humor and warmth, and your dad’s gentle, honest, and kind nature reminded me so much of my grandpa.

Losing someone so close is incredibly hard. In the past few years, I’ve lost my Grandma Billa, a patient and loving woman, and my Aunt Joyce, my mom’s younger sister. No matter how much time we have to prepare for goodbyes, we’re never ready. The void left behind feels impossible to fill.

What I’ve come to realize through these losses is the importance of their legacy. When I think of my grandparents, my aunt, and your dad, one theme stands out: family. Growing up, I thought all families were as loving and supportive as ours, but I’ve learned how rare and special that truly is. In the end, it’s not wealth or accolades that define a legacy—it’s the love and values we pass on. That in a sense, is an extension of their immortality, one that persists long after they're gone by our intentional effort to remember, propogate and extend them within our own families. 

I don't know you but for the brief communication we've had to arrange this slideshow, but knowing my Uncle, I am confident you and your siblings have carried forth his kind, loving, humorous spirit within your own families. And with that, the most essential, concentrated part of what made your dad, your dad, is always a part of you. I hope you find comfort as time goes by, and I hope you know you have a distant cousin whom your dad made a lasting impression on even though he was likely unaware of just how far his influence reached.

Forever thankful for the friendship Abel had with my dad.  Abel showed so much compassion and deep connection with my dad  until my dad left this world five years ago.
Abel was always so kind to me whenever I saw him at family gatherings.  I will miss him and his kind smile.  My deepest condolences to his children, grandchildren and his entire family. 🙏

Dad I can not only write one memory only because there is so many.  I miss you Dad so very much and I’m sorry I should have faught more for you.  You should still be here.  Please give Mom and kiss for me and now Dad it’s time for you to rest.  Your time on earth is done but your life in eternity starts now.  Love you “Your Daughter”.
