My Little Mom, I miss you so much. I wish I were still taking care of you, just as you took care of me all my life. You were my best friend, and I know you loved me without needing to say it, just by always being there and doing everything you could for me. You deserved so much more. But I treasure our weekend walks in the woods, our many trips into the city to see plays, concerts and all kinds of theater that I know you enjoyed, the varied, exotic meals you eagerly devoured (not to mention the many delicious and always comforting ones you made for me -- although you said you hated cooking!), and our trips to far-away places I knew you wanted to see, like Egypt, England, Italy and Spain. You thanked me and told me you enjoyed them all. That said, I only wish that I could now still be giving you the care and, I hope, comfort you were able to have during these most recent years. I hope I was able to do that, more than anything. I really hope you are now with Grandpa and Grandma, who I can still see telling me to "be good to your mother!" I hope I listened to her. To be able to take care of you was by far the most fulfilling, important and valued thing I've ever done in my life. I miss, at every moment, being able to do that. I am seeing you when I close my eyes at night. I hope you see me. I love you so much, Mom. Your son, Myles

My condolences to you and your family  Miles.
Rest in peace, Rita Godon.

My mother, Rita, was an inspiration to my love of music and the arts. 
We went to many Broadway shows together in New York and at the Pantages theater in California. Our love for the plays"The King and I", "Annie get your gun", "Carousel", "South Pacific", and "West side story" will forever make me smile and bring a tear to my eye.
Our visits to the Hearst Castle and the Huntington library in Southern California were some of our favorite moments together. 
Love of Malibu Beach and the Big Sur area especially a day at nepenthes are a few other noteworthy experiences we shared.
We went to many concerts together, movies , and museums when we both lived in New York.
I joined her for lunch every Monday when she worked in Lord and Taylor's and I was also in retail in New York City with Monday's off and always spent them visiting her amongst other things. 
She understood many things that were multi-generational and enjoyed much from my generation that I introduced her to. 
We laughed a lot together. 
I will miss her even though our contact in the last 10 years since she visited me in Hawaii, where I lived for many years. had diminished largely due to her illnesses on and off. 
I am glad Myles was at her side when she passed away. 
I will miss her and think of her daily with many of my art pieces that we shared the appreciation of and much of the jazz music and old movies that I still listen to and watch.

I met Rita and Myles on a trip to Spain in 2015. She was wonderful to be with and so interested in everything and had a great sense of humor. She's an inspiration to me to keep traveling for as long as I can.  My sincere condolences, Myles.
