Passed away at home in Queens, N.Y. on April 7, 2023 at the age of 91. He was devoted to his wife Frances for over 67 years. Matty was a proud father of Amy and husband David, Julie and partner Carlos, and Daniel and wife Madeline; grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 3. He was predeceased by his brother David and sister Cynthia. A man of deep integrity and compassion, Dr. Harris was a 1956 graduate of Chicago Medical School. He served in the US Army at a MASH hospital in Korea from 1958-1959. Beloved by his patients, his career as a surgical oncologist spanned over 50 years at NYU Langone Health. He skillfully taught countless medical students as Professor of Surgery at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Harris touched many lives. His professionalism, storytelling, love and friendship will be greatly missed. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
