Alan will always live on with his many friends from the New York Financial Writers Association. He not only led the organization but he regaled us in the annual musical satire --The Financial Follies-- performed with live music and up to 1,000 people in attendance at this black tie event on Broadway. Alan would sing, dance and do silly skits with all the passion and focus that he showed in his dedication to financial journalism. May his memory be a blessing.

I want to offer my sincere condolences to Alan’s family. I used to play violin with Alan in the Symphonic Pops and he always wanted to tell a joke and make everyone laugh. I remember we sang  the song “You Make Me Feel So Young” at one of the concerts as a duet and it was so much fun. May he Rest in Peace and he will be missed by so many people!

My sincere condolences to the family of Alan Goldsand.  He loved to play the violin and I remember when he played with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra and having nice conversations with him - he loved orchestral music and meeting people.  Rest in Peace.

Alan always had a kind word to go along with his smile. He always liked to make others laugh and smile as well. I will miss him telling me jokes while trying to play a piece/song during a rehearsal or concert.May he rest in peace.

We played music in the (then called) Senior Pops of LI.

Bill and Linda Davidson: Bill is the Post Commander of the JWV Post 655, Plainview wherein in May Alan stepped up and volunteered to become the Post's  Sr. Vice Commander aka second in command. Alan strongly supported a Post Veteran who had been denied access to a Veteran's meeting at the JCC Y. He and i argued vigorously before the CEO of the Y to allow this veteran equal access. Alan utilized his past Newsday writing experience to aid in that endeavor. Linda & I became close friends with Alan talking at length with him listening to his beloved Molly snore loudly in the background. On Jun 27 we offered to take Alan to lunch at the conclusion of the JWV Post meeting just concluded. Alan talked about how proud he was in playing with the Nassau County POPS band performing for attendees, including the pending July 4th scheduled concert. His sudden loss is insurmountable but his laughter and cheerfulness will stay with us forever. Farewell but never forgotten my brother-in-arms.
