R. Dennis Blyshak, age 67 passed away on January 4, 2018 in Grapevine, TX. Born on May 22, 1950 in Monessen, PA, Dennis was the son of John and Katherine (Moskola).Blyshak. Dennis is survived by his brothers, David (Regina) Blyshak, Pittsburgh, PA, Ed (Karen) Blyshak, St Charles, IL, and his sister, Sharon Hixenbaugh (Les), Aliquippa, PA. Dennis is also survived by nieces, Nicole Hoeinghaus, (Blyshak), Emilee Kennelly (Hixenbaugh), Natalee and Andy Hixenbaugh. Dennis is also survived by members of the Monroe family, Jim and Marcia Chism, Kelly and Julie Monroe, Greg Monroe, and Robin Swisher and many nieces and nephews of the Monroe family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine, his brother John of Pittsburgh, his wife Cheryl Blyshak (Monroe), Woodlands, Tx and Olga Blyshak (Young), Woodlands, TX.
Dennis leaves many friends behind in the Hospitality Industry, especially those at Benchmark Hospitalities in Woodlands, TX. They loved him and respected him for his kindness, generosity, and above all his integrity.
Dennis’ family and good friend, Gene Hart, Pittsburgh, PA, referred to Dennis as the Big Guy because they knew that he was always there for them. You never had to ask Dennis for assistance, he knew when you needed him and he was there.
Nothing was easy for Dennis growing up on the NorthSide of Pittsburgh. He worked hard for everything he ever accomplished and shared his success with everyone.
As a young man, FATE whispered to Dennis, the warrior, You can not withstand the storm. Dennis, the warrior, whispered back to FATE—I AM THE STORM. As they say, the rest is history.
Dennis generated an outstanding 40 year career in the Hospitality Industry that is widely appreciated and respected. He was a well respected executive who served for many years as chief financial officer of Benchmark Hospitality International., Woodlands, TX. Dennis served as the company’s chief financial officer during a period of rapid growth and expansion. His personal integrity and thirst for excellence was instrumental in establishing Benchmark Hospitality as a respected leader in the Hospitality Industry.
Dennis retired from Benchmark in August of 2012 as a Senior Vice President Financial Operations.
A private family Memorial Service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.
