Larry was born March 21, 1942. Larry’s family was from Illinois but moved to Amarillo, Texas where he and his five siblings were raised. After graduating Tascosa High School, he attended West Texas State University and TCU in Fort Worth.
Larry was a salesman and he began selling advertising for KXOL Radio Station in Fort Worth but quickly found success with Southland Life Insurance Company. Later in his career, he owned and operated a daycare/early education company named Precious Child. Larry was an athlete and was proud to be an A-Class racquetball player. He loved pickleball and was a member of the National Pickleball Association. Throughout his life, he loved photography and captured awesome photos of nature and his family. He loved his family and most of all, his rescued puppies. Skipper was Larry’s best friend and the most popular puppy at Atria Hometown, Larry’s last home.
His memory lives on in his children Pamela Baker Hudson & husband Lin, George-Walker Scott Baker & wife Leslie, and Melissa Baker Mask & husband Danny; grandchildren Katie O’Briant, McKenzie Joiner & husband Dustin, Abbie Mask, Clara Mask, and Emily Mask; great grandchildren Slade Joiner, Elizabeth Joiner, and Xander Mask; siblings Terri Meyers & husband Denny, Todd Baker & wife Caryn, Kevin Baker; 12 nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Milan George Baker and Ruby Emeline Baker Bobbitt, Carol Baker Adcock, and Timothy George Baker.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Larry’s honor at JE Foust and Son Funeral Home on Friday, February 16th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the SPCA or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
