She had many roles in life; daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, business woman and friend. Many will remember her as being a beautiful light with a great sense of humor. She worked for Fitz and Floyd in Dallas and then became Vice President of Marketing for National Health. She loved to explore the world with her husband, family, and friends- visiting 6 out of the 7 continents and almost every state in the US. Learning about other cultures, trying new foods, and capturing photos of all of her journeys was something that brought her so much joy. She was always ready for a new adventure.
Judy was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Grapevine where she sang in the choir for many years.
Judy was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her parents Shelby and Viola Thornton and her husband George Hawkins.
Judy is survived by two daughters, Kristie Ballew and husband Vance; and Donna Ray; two granddaughters, Whitney Martin and husband Zak; and Shelby Henson; and her beloved dog, Cano.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to those who lovingly helped care for Judy over the last 6 years as she battled dementia- the entire staff at Dancing River Assisted Living and Memory Care, Judy’s home health nurse, Kelly Morris (and the staff with Sunrise Home Health), and Nurse Practitioner Christy Jones. The Family is also thankful for the staff at Comfort Choice Hospice and Choice PlusCare.
A memorial service will be held at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas on Saturday, July 18th at 11am. Face masks will be required at the service.
Donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Hawkins to the Alzheimer's Association.
