Gale was born on November 11, 1937 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Lemuel and Helen Kate (Umberger) Andrews. In 1961, she married James Horn. They raised five daughters and made homes in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Bedford, Texas. Gale attended Dallas Baptist University, majoring in Management Information Systems, and earning her Bachelor of Applied Business Administration in 1996 and Master of Business Administration in 1998. She began her career in 1984 managing the computer lab at Tarrant County College, and became a TCC Professor in 2003, where she taught until her retirement in 2013.
Gale’s greatest passion was sharing her faith and bringing others to Christ. Her favorite gift to her girls, their spouses, and children was every conceivable version of the Bible — her most cherished possession. She was a dedicated mother, devoting decades to the musical pursuits of her girls including 20 years of L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band activities and endless hours of voice, piano, violin, flute, clarinet, and drum lessons. Gale loved learning, teaching, and helping others. She filled her time later in life attending and leading Bible studies, and as a women’s mentor at Gateway Church – making a meaningful difference in the lives of many women. Gale enjoyed traveling. She saw the world on trips and cruises with family, friends, and Gateway Church’s Prime Time group, and regularly visited her family in Virginia. Gale also loved technology – her idea of fun was spending an afternoon updating software and reformatting hard drives for her family and friends.
Gale is preceded in death by her father Lemuel and mother Helen, and by her siblings Claude, Cynthia, Eugene, Agnes, and Jo.
She is survived by her brother, Earl Lemuel Andrews, her five daughters, Debra (John), LaDawn (Bryan), Angela (Brad), Patricia (David), and Rebekah (Jay), her grandchildren, Nathan (Laura), Ryan, Morgan, Chelsea (Alex), Bailey, Aaron (Linda), and Amanda, and her great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooklyn, and Avery.
