I met Carlos at a young age. My first impression was that he was a mountain of a man! He was a downright intimidating presence... until he cracked that ear-to-ear smile from deep beneath his ever-prodigious beard. I soon learned that the smile was a rather permanent feature. As time went on, I'd learn something new (and oftentimes surprising) about him each time our paths would cross. He was never the lead conversationalist, but his timing was impeccable, and he knew something about everything! "Just enough to be dangerous" he'd say, with a grin and a wink. The one thing about him I will never forget is how genuine and engaging he was in conversation. The eye contact, nodding head, and that big ol' smile. When he would ask a question, it never felt as if he was asking to be polite or to kill time. It always felt like he wanted to hear your answer. It always made you feel special in that moment. 

I offer my condolences to his wife, Carole, to his family, and to his friends. He was a gift in the handful of moments I'd have with him each year. Thank you for sharing your gift.

Carlos’ , candor and wit will not be forgotten!  Ohh the good times he and I had; the air shows, boat shows, car shows where we acted like millionaires , ready to purchase on the spot.  I’m sure the sales people were pretty mad at us!
Gentle giant, never showing anger or disdain for anyone.  The love for Jazz music and all sports helped define his existence.

I will always remember Carlos' friendly smile and the kindness that he shared with all of his work colleagues.  I am so fortunate to have known him; he will be missed.

We love you Carlos. We will miss you and your laughter and smiles. RIP.  Our deepest sympathy to all family and friends. 

My heartfelt condolences to Carlos' family. It was my great honor to be considered friend to the younger brother of my best friend Robert Ruiz. Robert and I met at junior college in 1971 and he introduced me to Carlos who was still in his senior year at Paschal. We shared some wonderful times and I will miss my friend, "Carlosis the Latin Lover."

A good friend from Pascal HS. We took a few classes together. I remember his warmth and enthusiasm. My deepest condolences to his family. 

Carlos was a fellow Daggett Bulldog and Paschal Panther. Great guy , and friend to all. Condolences to his family and friends. 

So very sorry to hear of Carlos’ passing.  Fellow Panther from Class of ‘72.  He was such a kind person with a wonderful smile.  I know he will be missed by many.   Prayers for comfort and peace for his family.  

Carlos was always kind and fun in high school. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Until we meet again,  rest in peace my friend,
