Evie was born April 26, 1948, on her grandmother's kitchen table in Malden, Missouri to James (Butch) and Violet Kimbrough and her older sister, Barbara. Soon after Evie’s birth the family packed up and moved to Glendale, Oregon, where a younger brother, James Oscar was born.
Evie attended Glendale High School where she was a popular cheerleader and graduated in 1966. She then attended Southern Oregon State College in Ashland, Oregon (now SOU) for 2 years followed by nursing school, becoming a Registered Nurse.
Evie married her middle school sweetheart, Joe Apperson, in 1969. Joe and Evie had three children – Joe Jr, Brad, and Angela. The family resided in Eugene and Reedsport, Oregon, and ultimately settled in Grants Pass, Oregon. Evie worked for the State of Oregon Health Department as an advocate for the elderly until her retirement.
Evie was smart and fun-loving, with an unforgettable laugh. Those who met Evie were drawn in by her sweet and caring nature. She enjoyed reading, working in her yard, and going on long rides around the Rogue Valley with her husband.
Evie is survived by her husband, Joe Apperson, sons, Joe Jr (Gwen), and Brad, and daughter Angela Wisher (Tim), grandchildren, Cameron, Madeline, Garrett, and Wyatt Apperson, her sister, Barbara Burke (Manfred) and brother, James Oscar Kimbrough.
