Wallace Russell Ypma

He was a Navy veteran of WWll and served in the Pacific, European, and African theaters and ended his time in the Aleutian Islands. He married his sweetheart, Donna J. Straight, in 1948 and was blessed with six children. He drove truck for most of his life, starting with an ice truck, Armour Star, and Keller until his retirement. Running was his passion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Ypma; sons Wallace and Michael Ypma. He is survived by his daughters Pam (Lloyd) Batey, Val (Mark) Minnema, Juanita Ypma; son, Bill (Judy) Ypma; daughter-in-law, Kim Van Nuil; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Dick Straight and Jim Brown; sister-in-law, Sandy Ypma; special friends Bob Termolen, Karen Standly, and the Grand Rapids Running Club; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
