After several years battling with cancer, Sandra Eileen Bennett, age 69 of Grandville, formerly Aurora, Illinois, finished her ministry of suffering and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday August 27, 2022. Sandy was born November 11, 1952, the daughter of William and Ruth Bauer. She graduated from West Aurora High School with the class of 1970. Sandy continued her education at Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music (GRSBM), where she served at the Bible school as the secretary to the dean. On June 16, 1973 she married her high school sweetheart, William Bennett. They just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in June. Pastor Bill and Sandy paved the way for many young lives.
Sandy worked at the Born Clinic for 25 years and served the Lord in ministry at Grace Bible Church, Camp Ao-Wa-Kiya, Women at Risk, and Living Proof Ministries. She also held several Bible studies in her home.
Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family, and watching her grandchildren in all of their various sports and activities. Wednesday night family pool nights were a highlight of her summers, and she loved Fridays with her sister. Sandy loved the Lord and wanted everyone to love Him as well. She was truly a prayer warrior.
Sandy will be greatly missed by her husband, Pastor Bill; sons Matthew (Rachel), Jason (Carol), and Josh (Dani); beloved grandchildren whom she spoke about often: Noah, William, Lainey, Jacob, Callen, Esther, and Liam; sisters Cheryl (Greg) Koster, Susan (Dale) Varga; brother, Bill Bauer; mother, Ruth Bauer; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father, William Bauer; infant daughter, Amanda Ruth; and brother-in-law, John Engle.
Visitation with Sandra’s family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville Michigan. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 2 at Grace Bible Church, 3715 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. Rev. Todd Kinde will be officiating.
