Sally was a lot of fun.  We went on a cruise together.

So sorry to hear of Sally’s passing. I remember choir and after going to the Rainbow Grill for “chocolate sodas”.

I always looked up to Sally growing up In Grandville with her in our church.  She often sang during the services, and after she began her travels and adventures, she would come back and tell us all about it.  She was always planning and looking forward to something exciting.  We will miss her smiles, and the "happy times ".

This is the Senior Steppers at Festival in 2014 on Calder Stage.  Tap was Sally's favorite.  This is "New York, New York." 



This was a Senior Stepper dance, "Jailhouse Rock," taken in 2010 at a performance at a Retirement Center.  It was because of Sally that we started performing.  She kept asking me if we could until I gave in.



This was taken in 2013.  The Senior Steppers had a performance at a Retirement Center and this dance was "Blue Suede Shoes."

Ms. Sally tell us a story is what the youth ministry would ask Sally Story to do.  With delight Sally would read to us.  She made us think, she asked us questions about the story to see if we were listening.  For her to be a tiny little lady she did not play, she was a feisty and kept us in order. Little one is what 3 of the boys would call her from out of 20 afterschool children that attended the program at the Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church in DC.  Sally introduced us to the Lord at the age of 12.  She taught us how to sew, do arts and crafts, macramade and cook.  Cooking was really fun she let us get down and dirty and made us clean up our mess after the chocolate desserts went in oven. While we were doing girly things Sally made sure there was a basketball coach to keep them boys active as well.  Sally taught us how to read music & we later played the handbells and sang in the church youth choir.  We had some amazing times with Sally at this church I even got married at this church when I was 25.  If we did our homework, read and studied our bible verses we went on a retreat somewhere just about every weekend.  Sally took us everywhere places we were not able to go to because our families were not in a position financially.  We went to the beach, camping, fishing, crabbing, movies, roller and ice skating.  Sally even took us to Ivy City (not a great neighborhood in DC back in 1980) to the teenage dance but only if we were good.  Sally feared no one because we prayed before we traveled so we were protected.  If we showed out on that bus, we could not participate in any of the events because she refused to take us anywhere and embarrass her in public.  All of us can truly say Sally made sure we graduated high school either went to college or found a decent job.   We are who we are because Sally has prayed for us for over 45 years.  Thank you, Sally, now R.I.P.  you will be missed.  Pandora Dubose

Miss Sally was more than a mentor to all of us .... she was  our neighborhood mom a guardian angel who helped us grow .... she treated us all equally. We was Mount Vernon basketball team just as well as number 13 boys and girls club all because of Miss Sally. Miss Sally she host a after-school program for the kids of Thompson elementary school. She came and got all the kids on Sunday to go to church in her green Nova car ...lol.....She took us to the circus camping , soccer games at RFK stadium , took us out to the capital center to watch the Washington bullets she did a host of other tremendous things ... Miss Sally was our neighborhood Mom

Thank you for the Legacy that you left for so many of us.   Your kindness and generosity was priceless.   The 1982 Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church basketball team.

Thank you for the legacy that you left with so many of us.  I thank you for giving me my first opportunity to coach basketball for the 1983 Mt. Vernon Methodist Church basketball team after playing on the team the previous 5 years. 
The opportunity allowed me to identify my purpose in life and motivated me to become a youth basketball coach/mentor to generations of teens throughout the DMV and sharing the love of Jesus Christ using basketball as my tool of communication.
Rest in Paradise with Jesus. I am sure he said to you,  “Well Done my Good and Faithful Servant, Well Done”.

Such a special lady!! Always a BIG smile. Always positive. Have known her from church for over 30 years. She was always willing to help in any project we had with our ladies circle.  

Sally loved her DC kids and so often talked about them. She also loved the dance group and all the ladies. So many times we would  be be saying "oh boy, Sally..." but she was always happy and saw the good in all. She is missed!❤

Sally loved dancing with the Senior Steppers.  She always had a smile on her face and the audience adored her.

There are no words to say how, or what miss Sally has done for me..All can say when a white lady can walk through 10street Washington DC in the night and pick up a bunch of bad Black kids to take to her house ,the gym or just to get a bite to eat..MUST BE GOD.. SENT R.I.P. MOM...#MISSSALLY4LIFE..
