Paul Leroy Splitstone passed away peacefully March 14, 2024. He was born in Fremont, MI on January 29, 1926 to Leroy and Georgia (Sheldrick) Splitstone.
Paul graduated from Fremont High School in 1944. He then went on to graduate from Western Michigan University in 1948 and received his doctorate from Ohio State University in 1955. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
After a short stint teaching at Dalhousie University in Canada, Paul returned to Michigan in 1963. He then devoted his career to teaching at Alma College, primarily in the physics and chemistry departments (1963-1991). Paul spent 23 summers participating with archeological excavations in Israel.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Hester Schulte and Freda Kunst. He is survived by sisters Mary Ellen Mickel and Fay Kershner, and several nieces and nephews.
