Patricia Ann Harris, known lovingly by her family as "Wilbur" passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at her home, peacefully, with family by her side. Pat was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan July 9, 1949, to Jack and Helen Allers. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Pat graduated from Kentwood high school in 1967. She went to work in the hardwood lumber industry until 1993 when she opened her own business with Uniglobe—Great Lakes Travel. She truly enjoyed owning her own business, especially the years she was able to work with her daughter, Amy. After 9/11, the economy took a toll on her business causing her to sell the agency in 2006. She wasn’t done working, so she decided to spend the remainder of her working years in retail and convenience stores.
In 1969, she married Chuck Harris and had two children, Amy and David Harris, whom they loved deeply.
Summers spent at Big Star Lake, swimming, boating, and entertaining family and friends were some of her most special memories. She loved going to the casino, playing board games, spending afternoons doing jigsaw puzzles, playing poker, and bridge with her “girls." Bowling and golf were Pat’s sports of choice, but she also enjoyed football - cheering on University of Michigan for her son and Michigan State for her daughter; she was truly a woman divided. However, they did agree to cheer on the Detroit Lions together.
Her granddaughters were very special to her, whether it was Jourden’s homemade meals that she raved about or spending the summers with Taylor - going to movies and listening to Christmas music - she loved them deeply.
In her final years, the one who could always put a smile on her face was her great-grandson, Xzayvier; he was her world.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Helen Allers; sister, Alice Allers; three nephews Donald John Pethers, Eric Bunker, Scotty Rood; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her loving children Amy and David Harris; sisters Jean (Dan) Bunker, Pam (Charlie) Draper, Deb (Doug) Lemon; brother, James Beaton; grandchildren Jourden Harris and Taylor Tolliver; great-grandson, Xzayvier Dandridge; and several, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI, with celebration of Pat’s life to follow at 2 p.m.
