It is with profound sadness that family and friends announce the passing of Joan Beverly Chase, on Monday, February 26, 2024. Born April 1, 1934, in Grand Rapids, she was the second oldest child of four born to Katherine and Gerald Young. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard and sister, Marilyn. She is survived by her older brother, Gerald. Joan was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Carol (Mike) Chase and her loving husband and best friend, Donald “Gene” Chase. Married in 1952, Joan and Gene were partners for 65 years until his death in 2017. Joan is survived by her six children Michael (Betsy) Chase, David (Sue) Chase, Steven (Sally) Chase, Mary (Michael) Fischer, Tom (Loie Lanting) Chase, and Christine (Dave) DeMaagd; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Joan’s family meant more to her than life itself. She dedicated every waking hour for most of her life to her family. She will be dearly missed by them all. The family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and owners of Sheldon Meadows, where Mom resided for the past nine years. They were an extended family to Joan and all there were very dear to her heart. They are truly very special people.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. prior to service.
