Donna Mae (Sibley) Poliski passed away November 28, 2023. After a long battle, she is finally at peace. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Joe. They are no doubt dancing with the angels in Heaven alongside their Lord and Savior. She is also being reunited with her parents Ellis (Jeff) and Eunice Sibley (Murphy); brother, Bob Sibley; brothers-in-law Frank, Casey, Adam, Louis, Al, Jim P., and Jim H.; along with sisters-in-law Helen, Elaine, Caroline, Betty, Evelyn; and daughter-in-law, Chris. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends are also welcoming her home.
Donna is survived by her four children Mike (Nancy), Gary (Tammy), Lori Feirick (Bruce), Dan (Chris); brothers Tom and John; sisters Kathryn and Theresa; sisters-in-law Judy and Paula; along with so many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended relatives. They were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Donna was born September 8, 1936 in Muskegon, Michigan. After marriage, they settled in Wyoming, Michigan to raise their family. She worked as a homemaker, which she mastered. As their kids grew, she took on an administrative position at Nu-Wool insulation, spending 17 years there, where she was affectionately known as, “Mother Hen."
For those who were fortunate enough to know our mom, you knew a pure soul. She was beautiful, gentle, graceful, spiritual, giving, fun, happy, helpful, selfless, strong, and faithful to all around her. We never heard her say a bad thing about anyone, nor is it possible to say a bad thing about her. She was as good of a mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend as anyone could have imagined. The stories, adjectives, and examples of just what an amazing person she was are endless.
She had but one hobby, her family. She spent countless hours at the field or in the gym watching their four kids play what seemed like a game every day. Her homes were Pinery Park and Wyoming Park. We took for granted that a meal was waiting for us after an event, no matter what time we were home. She made sure a uniform was clean the next day if needed. The countless friends she made during these times are priceless. The transition of watching a college baseball game to watching grandchildren play tee-ball was seamless. This meant there never was a time where there wasn’t a game to go to. The sacrifices she made, our parents made, for the sake of their family was immeasurable.
We are so thankful for the traditions that our parents gave us, led by our mom. The standard holidays were steeped in food, activities, and “rules” that instilled a sense of comfort and home. Christmas wasn’t Christmas without her cheese bread and please, don’t think about opening presents until family pictures are complete. From weekend family trips, Easter egg hunts, family reunions, spaghetti dinner, and trimming the tree for every birthday my dad had. It didn’t matter to us that she constantly put stale snacks out, we counted on and cherished those times as a family. We have continued to introduce our own traditions to our children, knowing the value they had for us.
