Ann Louise Meengs, age 82 from Holland, Michigan, soared into the heavens on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on August 20, 1942, to Jean (Luteyn) and Tony Zwart. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1960 and from Western Michigan University in 1964. After spending a year teaching in California, Ann returned to Michigan, where she married Loren Meengs. Ann spent many years following her passion as a pilot and flight instructor.
Ann enjoyed musicals, golfing, skiing, reading, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family, friends and her little dog too. And of course, she cherished every moment spent on Beaver Island, her favorite place on earth.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Lorenzo and Daisy Meengs; brothers-in-law Gerald VanNoord, William Zomer, and Ronald DeRuiter; and niece, Chelsea Overbeeke. She will be lovingly missed by her children Michael Meengs, Amy Meengs and “almost son-in-law” Luke Stein; sister, Carol DeRuiter; grandsons Brandon and Justin Meengs; former spouse and dear friend Loren Meengs; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Most importantly, Ann is survived by her daisy dog, Peito, her companion and best buddy.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Warehouse 6 Events, 136 E. 6th St., Holland, MI 49423. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration of life reception from 2-5 p.m. Please come at any time to help us toast Ann’s wonderful life.
