Robert Franklin Perry, 71, passed away Jan. 21, 2011, at his home in Grandview, Mo., surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 20, 1939, in Windsor, Mo., the fourth of five children to Frank and Laura Egbert Perry. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1957 and later attended CMSU in Warrensburg where he earned a Business Administration degree. He worked at Bendix Corporation, Clipper Manufacturing, and then joined Perry Building Company, where he worked until 2003. He married Gwen Darlene Snider on Aug. 6, 1961. They lived in Belton, Mo., where they had two children and later moved to Grandview. For over 45 years, Robert was a member of the Lions Club as well as a member of CrossRoads United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the choir and the building committee. Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gwen; daughter, Cynthia Dunkin and husband Jeff of Raymore, Mo.; son, Bob Perry and his wife Christa of Grain Valley, Mo.; brother, Clayton Perry and his wife Joanne of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sisters, Dorothy Gruner and husband Jerry of Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Morgan and husband Steve of Tacoma, Wash.; five grandchildren, Kyle, Hailey and Bryce Dunkin of Raymore, and Nick and Jarred Perry of Grain Valley. He also has many sisters-in-law, brothers-in- law, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends that will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Hecker; sister-in-law, RuthAnne Perry and nephew, Rick Perry. Gwen and the family want to give special thanks to Tracy and all of the Hospice caregivers for their tremendous care and support. Also special thanks to brother-in-law, Larry Gillespie for all the love, care and support during his final months. Services to celebrate Robert's life will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at CrossRoads United Methodist Church, 700 Quicktrip Way, Belton. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service immediately following. Cremation. The family request donations to the CrossRoads Church or Southern Hospice.
