Myra Walker, 88, of Kansas City, formerly of Grandview, died on November 29, 2024. She was born in Navarro County, Texas, received her B.A. degree in English from North Texas State College in 1960 and taught in Arlington, Texas schools. She met Floyd Walker during those years, and they married in 1964. In 1969, they moved to Missouri. They lived in Grandview until 2001, when they moved to Brookside. They were the proud parents of two daughters.
Myra taught in the Belton schools for several years during the ‘80’s and did substitute teaching in Grandview. She was involved in PTA while her children were in school. Later she volunteered for the Grandview Cancer Society and was an active member of the GFWC Grandview Study Club. She had been a member of Friends of Shakespeare and Red Hats. One of her favorite pastimes was water aerobics at the Research Brookside pool. She served briefly on the board of the building where she lived, and she enjoyed activities and amazing friends there. Her hobbies included reading, scrapbooking, music, stamp collecting, and keeping up with politics. Writing was her true passion and people her greatest fascination.
Floyd predeceased Myra in 2001. She is survived by their children, Micaela and Bob Boness of Romeoville, Illinois, and Taleesa and Jeff Kruse of Parkville, Missouri. Her great delight was the four grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Kruse and Traegan (Leila) and Hope Boness. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as countless cherished friends.
Anatomical donation to KU Medical Center. A Celebration of Life open house will be held January 3, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 pm at The Gallery at 705 Main Street, Grandview, MO 64030. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Harvesters, Spinning Tree Theater, or the ACLU.
