Lewis R. Henderson, 80, of Kansas City, MO, passed away February 28, 2010. Visitation 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 4, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 9420 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Lewis was born May 29, 1929 to Lewis and Alice Henderson in Long Prairie, MN. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Lewis worked 30 years for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1989. He was a former Layman and Sunday School Teacher at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Lewis was a Mason and a member of Legion of Honor, Mensa, National Speakers Association and Toastmasters. Preceded in death by parents, 4 sisters, and 1 brother. Survived by wife of 58 years, Rose Henderson; 8 children: Patricia Walker, Kansas City, MO; Lewis J. Henderson, Kansas City, MO; Robert Henderson, Kansas City, MO; Linda Vermote, Austin, TX; Raymond Henderson, Independence, MO; Anna Oliver, Gainesville, MO; Jon Henderson, Kansas City, MO; and Guinn Riffle, Raymore, MO; sisters Billie Schuller, Marquette, MI; and Alice Roten, Dripping Springs, TX; sisters-in-law Claudine Lewis, Bentonville, AR; Ruth Guinn and Mary Guinn, both of Kansas City, MO; 18 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
