Joyce Marie Callahan (LeBoeuf) passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Joyce was born July 1, 1935, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Lucius & Stella LeBoeuf. She was the second of five children, August (Mickey), Terry Dennis, Fred LeBoeuf, & Scheril (Jim) Grimes. Joyce married Glen A Callahan on January 13, 1953, in Westwego LA. She graduated from Westwego High School in 1953 and embarked on a life as an Air Force wife & mother. Joyce converted Glen to the lifestyle of a Cajun!
Joyce & Glen lived in California, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and Oklahoma before settling down in Missouri after her husband’s United States Air Force service ended. Joyce has three children, Roger (Debbie) Callahan, Darlene (Bill) Barnard, & Glenn Callahan. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Dawn, Ben, Erin, Caitlin, Luke, Ryan, Daniel, & Madison and five great grandchildren: Liam, Logan, Ada, Lena & Zara.
Joyce was a successful career woman after her children grew up. She started working as a walk-up window teller at the Bank of Belton and by the time she retired, 24 years later; she was a vice president. Joyce & Glen put a pool in their backyard, and we all loved to swim and BBQ. After retirement she and Glen watched grandkids, traveled and went to the boats to gamble. Joyce made a delicious pot of Chicken & Andouille gumbo (a great roux), French bread, fresh dinner rolls (crescent), caramel popcorn and German chocolate cake.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband Glen, and her brother Mickey. Joyce’s memory will be kept alive by her children, grandchildren, her three siblings and extended family: mainly in southern Louisiana.
