Virginia Elise Schmich, age 91, passed away on May 13, 2024 at St. Ann’s Home. Virginia was born in Grand Rapids on April 9, 1933 to Richard & Elise (Esenwein) Mueller. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
On February 4, 1956, Virginia was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Wendelin. Together, they celebrated 56 of marriage before his passing in 2012.
Virginia was dedicated to managing her family’s home. She took pride in maintaining a spotless home, and when she was feeling stressed she would reach for a dust cloth to polish her worries away. She also loved to travel, and she enjoyed numerous cruises. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and she cherished her grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter Gloria Schmich, her son Richard (Colleen) Schmich, her grandsons Rick (Lynda) and Ryan Schmich, adopted daughter and son-in-law Linda (David) Maue, her grandpuppies Cindy & Dash, her niece and her nephew as well as relatives over in Germany. Besides her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Mueller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park.
