Stephanie Kay Jones

Stephanie Jones of Grand Rapids, entered into Heaven on Monday, December 16, following several years of dementia and more recently with Parkinson’s. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathalie and Earl Jones, and sisters Carol Jones and Beverly Pollock. Stephanie is survived by her children, Todd (Caroline) Batitis, Dawn (Regina) Berry, and Rich (Sara) Berry; grandchildren, James, Jack, and Ella. Also surviving are her siblings, Bob (Betty) Jones and Debbie Jones, many nephews, nieces and friends, and her favorite four-legged friend, Miesha, who she spoiled every day with many treats. She loved to show her off by having her do tricks. She was also the dog treat lady. All of the dogs in the neighborhood got treats from her when they came by with their owners.

Stephanie worked in several departments at Amway Corp. over a 31 year period, and retired in 2009 after working several years as a shuttle bus driver. If you were one of her passengers she may not remember your name, but she could tell you what kind of car you drove and where you parked!

Stephanie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh! She was compassionate, kind, caring, and yes, she was stubborn too. One of her favorite pastimes was pet sitting for people when they went away. She would stay at people’s houses and take care of their pets, including dogs, cats, miniature horses, full size horses, and even a skunk!

A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, December 21 at Cascade Christian Church, 2829 Thornapple River Dr. SE. Her family will receive visitors on Friday, December 20 from 5-7pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE, and on Saturday, December 21 from 1-2pm before the celebration of life service at the church. Burial will be for family only on Saturday, December 21 at 4:00pm at Plainfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to United Way or the charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank the many neighbors who helped Stephanie throughout the years, especially those who helped with walking Miesha and caring for her when Stephanie was hospitalized. You all were certainly part of her village, and enabled her to stay in her home instead of going to a care facility. For that, we thank you!
