Lois Jean Myers

Lois Jean Myers (Phillips), aged 71 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Lamont, MI, passed away on December 6, 2011 at home surrounded by her family. She was an inspiration to everyone around her as she fought a courageous battle against cancer. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Ray Myers, parents Art and Leah Phillips. She was a loving second-mother to Joan (Mike) Johnston, Terri (Mark) Portice, and Kathy Myers; devoted and loving grandmother to Nathan, Kristy (Joel), Amanda, Adam, Cory, Justin, Mark, Luke; and her precious great-grandson Jeremy Ray, also surviving are loving cousins and many dear friends. We will miss our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend tremendously but God was ready for her in heaven as her work on Earth was finished. Lois was an outstanding teacher. She taught in Petoskey, MI; Ostego, MI and spent her final 24 years in the classroom within the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 9, 2011 at Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating. Relatives and friends may greet Lois’ family on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids. The family hopes through the contributions that additional families can receive the outstanding support and services from Hospice that we received during this difficult time.
