With a natural sense of adventure, Lenny became fascinated by all things fantasy as a young boy. He loved to play Dungeons and Dragons which led to a lifetime love of gaming, role play and ultimately being a highly skilled Dungeon Master.
From building his own world, he put his imagination to paper and authored the book, The Wand of Aethexaine based on one of his campaigns. A piece that is filled with good versus evil, wizards, druids and other characters all working to discover the mystery of their own purpose.
Lenny was in his 20’s when he met the love of his life, Jennifer. The couple quickly smitten with each embarked on a love affair that has lasted over 20 years. Together, they owned Wanderlust Acres Animal Sanctuary, a domestic duck rescue. If you’d asked him, it was all Jen’s, and he just loved cats, but it was no secret he loved the ducks too especially Lemon and Maggie. They enjoyed travelling across the United States together site seeing, going to concerts, Renaissance Faires and enjoying games with friends. In recent years he found Grimsby Hollow Meadery where he felt welcome in their medieval atmosphere and enjoyed many events there.
Family and friends were important to Lenny. He was close to his mother, and lived his life to make her proud. Her death in 2016 left a huge empty place in his heart. He had a big, empathic, kind heart, and went out of his way to help so many people. He touched a lot of lives with his optimistic joy of life.
He will be remembered for being a fiercely passionate life partner, loving son and brother and loyal friend and an epic Dungeon Master and all things fantasy role playing.
Besides his wife Jennifer VanderMeer, Lenny is survived by his brothers Dean (Jessica) Rockwell and Mike (Heather) Reynolds and his nieces and nephews Ryleigh, Knighten, Paul and Kara. He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece Aubrey.
Visitation for Lenny will be held on Friday September 23, 2022 from 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel where a funeral service will be held on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery.
