Kenneth Raymond VanDyk

Kenneth Raymond VanDyk, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Reta Marie VanDyk for 69 years, until her death in 2019. He was also preceded in death by his middle son, Terence VanDyk.

Ken had an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned an appliance store, followed by a real estate business. He developed a residential plat and acquired a few commercial warehouses, which he enjoyed fixing up and leasing the space. Ken was an optimist and a dreamer, and often encouraged others to start up their own ventures.

Ken and Marie appreciated the art of dancing, and in the early years of their marriage became quite proficient at polka and the waltz. He enjoyed watching TV variety and dance shows and listening to big band music. He had a passion for being by the water and boating. He “skippered” a few different cabin cruisers, and even built one himself. Fishing, cooking, and visiting restaurants with his wife and family were all favorite activities. He loved his family, with a special place in his heart for his four grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his children, Thomas (Sue) VanDyk, Timothy (Cindy) VanDyk, and grandchildren, Caitlin VanDyk (Nicholas) Rapisardi, Ryan VanDyk (Candace Monacelli), Jacey VanDyk (Pierce Postma) and Jordan (Hannah) VanDyk. Ken is also survived by his siblings, Geraldine Kist and Ronald VanDyk. He will be greatly missed.
