Harold attended Creston High School and would then go on to proudly serve his country in the Marine Corps. during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he became a carpenter - working in construction and building houses on the side. Harold was strong in his faith and was a parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church of Grand Rapids for over 35 years. Harold was a member of the American Legion and the Snowmobile Association. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by: wife of 60 years, Mary Koster; son, Dan Koster; parents, Herbert and Elizabeth Koster; and sister, Shirley (Bill) Wecker.
Harold is survived by: children, Michael (Susan) Koster, Julie (Dirk) Fennema, Jill (Kevin) Mahoney, and Scott (Mary) Koster; grandchildren, Jeremy Sorensen, Dave (Natalie) Koster, Christopher (Elizabeth) Koster, Katie (Matt) Pazinski, Kyle (Vanessa) Mahoney, Kristin Mahoney (Seth Carrel), Elizabeth (Keith) Dennis, Ben (Sherabiyah) Koster, and Clint Koster; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as, other extended family and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 12th at 11:00am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Road, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Hospice.
